Scenario

Imagine that you have been asked to get a new application running in your cloud which your company manages with OpenStack. To setup the new application, you have to get a virtual machine up and running.

Note that you are an end user and not in an operator/administrator role.

Tasks

Task 1

Please login into the Horizon user portal using the following credentials:

  Username: user 
  Password: Openstack1! 

After you login, go the Launch Instance page and open the Launch Instance modal.

Task 2

Open the Launch Instance modal after you have logged into the portal.

Task 3

First, select the most recent version of Ubuntu Server with long term support (LTS) that supports amd64 processors.” [Ubuntu Server 12.10 (amd64 20140409)]
You would also like 2GB of persistent storage that should be deleted if you terminate the instance. Make this change.

Task 4

You change your mind and decide to get an older and more reliable of Ubuntu Server, but still want long term support (LTS). How would you do this?

Select the previous version of Ubuntu Server as your source.

Task 5

Select the flavor with the highest number of VCPUs that still stays within your project quota.

Task 6

Select networks for your instance in the following NIC order:

1) NET_PUBLIC 
2) NET_DMZ 
3) NET_PRIVATE_2” 

Task 7

Select the following security groups:

Internal Access 
API server 
web

Task 8

Create a new keypair for your instance.
