Scenario

Imagine that you have been asked to get a new application running in your cloud which your company manages with OpenStack. To setup the new application, you have to get a virtual machine up and running.

Note that you are an end user and not in an operator/administrator role.

Tasks

Task 1

Please login into the Horizon user portal using the following credentials:

  Username: user 
  Password: Openstack1! 

After you login, go the Launch Instance page and open the Launch Instance modal.

Task 2

Open the Launch Instance modal and complete all required information in the first step.

1) Note that you would like to select the most recent version of Ubuntu Server with long term support (LTS) that supports amd64 processors.
2) In addition, you would like 50GB of persistent storage that should be deleted if you terminate the instance.

Task 3

You change your mind and decide to get an older and more reliable of Ubuntu Server, but still want long term support (LTS).

Go ahead and select an earlier version of Ubuntu Server as your source.
Continue to the next step when you are done.
