XenAPI Meetings

Meeting to discuss the status of Blueprints and bugs relating to the XenAPI layer in #openstack-meeting, every Wednesday at 1500 UTC.

(It used to be every Wednesday at 1700 UTC, but this proved too late for the UK folks at Citrix after daylight savings kicked in.)

The XenAPI team is an informal subgroup of nova, but not exclusively nova, with the mission:

"To ensure OpenStack continues to have first class support for XCP and XenServer"

This involves looking at the following things with a XenAPI related view:

(yamamoto) neutron xen rootrwap
- there are neutron blueprints which likely need xenapi related changes

    - it replaces ovs-ofctl command with an openflow controller embedded to the agent
    - there's an idea to create a small proxy program
      - see the section around L244 of https://review.openstack.org/#/c/138980/10/specs/kilo/ovs-ofctl-to-python.rst,cm
      - i'd like to hear opinions from xen folks
        if it's possible and/or desirable
        
        alternatives?
  - https://blueprints.launchpad.net/neutron/+spec/vsctl-to-ovsdb (Terry Wilson)
    - it introduces a version of library which speaks ovsdb protocol natively instead of using ovs-vsctl command
    - i (yamamoto) think it will eventually need a similar proxy too unless we will maintain two versions of the library forever
- in any case, it would be great if there's a 3rd party CI covering xen-rootwrap
