Guidelines for Writing Clear Agenda Items

An agenda item should have a clearly defined objective.

• [owner/author/interested-party] Good: Review #xxxxx has comments on foobar.py from multiple folks and there seems to be a lack of consensus on how to solve problem ‘y’. Let’s quickly rehash the merits of both approaches in 2-5 minutes and call for a vote. Goal: choose an approach and move forward on implementation.
• Bad: Discuss blueprint ‘xyz’
• Bad: Revisit blueprint ‘abc’ that we talked about last week to get answers on remaining disagreements.

When referring to previous conversations or competing viewpoints, be sure to summarize them.

Please make sure to include your own name in the first line of the agenda item, or the name of the person who will be presenting the subject/leading the discussion.

• Announcements
  • Newton release schedule has been published
    • Some things I've learned from the Mitaka cycle
      • The schedule is known so far in advance that it is prudent to plan for it
      • The dates for things that are listed as "Final" are in fact final and not subject to FFE's
        • If we want to push any code into OSLO, R-6 is a hard deadline.
        • R-5, is the hard freeze for the python-troveclient. We must get all new functionality we need in the client into a version by that date or it won't be available for the release.
        • R-5 is the target date by which all new functionality should be in, you need to request FFE's for anything that does not merge by that date
        • R-3 is the RC1 target date, not a hard date. In the Mitaka cycle, I mistakenly believed that R-3 is a hard RC1 date. My mistake.
  • Getting rid of eventlet and replacing it with something else

• Ongoing review of projects. At the mid-cycle in Raleigh, one of the action items that we took away was that we should start tracking and monitoring all projects under way to completion through the release cycle. I'm going to start this up with the projects that we know are under way, and begin to highlight them so that people can focus time on reviewing them.

  • Austin Design Summit track layout The Trove sessions are Tuesday from (wr1) 0950 to 1030, Wednesday from (wr2) 1350 to 1430, (wr3) 1530 to 1610, (fb1) 1720 to 1800, Thursday from (fb2) 0950 to 1030 and (fb3) 1100 to 1140, (wr4) 1150 to 1230, (wr5) 1330 to 1410, (wr6) 1420 to 1500, and Friday from (cm) 0900 to 1230.
